Brewing beer on Whidbey Island had been a long-time dream of Coupeville natives, brothers Marc and Mitch Aparicio. Making that dream a reality began in 2016 with the opening of the first Penn Cove Taproom here in Coupeville. Focused on providing a warm and welcoming place for community members and tourists alike to enjoy craft beer and wine from throughout the region, the brothers were on their way. Patience, perseverance and encouragement from the community paid off, and in 2019, with the acquisition of a 10bbl system installed directly across from the Coupeville Taproom, Penn Cove Brewing Company officially arrived. Today they hold the title of Whidbey Island’s largest Craft Brewery. Their beers can be enjoyed at a variety of establishments throughout Island and Snohomish counties as well as at their Coupeville and Oak Harbor Taprooms. A third Taproom and Experimental Brewery is slated to open in Freeland in Spring 2021.
